オーマイ近江町
近江町市場（おうみちょういちば）は塊肉、ラーメン、寿司、和菓子、金沢カレー、蕎麦、フレッシュな果物や野菜、そしてもちろん金沢の新鮮な魚介類が揃っています。金沢駅から徒歩でも行ける距離にあるので、リアルな金沢の本格的な市場を見て、味わって、香りを楽しむことができるおすすめのスポットです。
魚アレルギーを持つ私にとっては正直なところ生臭く感じてしまい、海産物の屋台の前を足早に通り過ぎるのですが……。私と違い魚介類が大好き人々にとっては、近江町市場はまさに天国です。
様々な海鮮丼がよくおすすめされていますが、ランチタイムには長い待ち時間を覚悟してください。近江町市場内の店々は最高の味を提供してくれるので、地元の人々にも観光客にも大人気なのです。蒸し暑い夏の期間はうれしいことに、市場のあちこちに氷柱が置かれ、訪れる人々は触って涼むことができます。
魚介類を食べることができない私ですが、焼き鳥やフルーツ串もあるので、つまみながら市場の散策を楽しめます。
Oh My Ōmichō
Ōmichō Market (Ōmichō Ichiba), boasts various meat on sticks, ramen, sushi, confectionery (wagashi), Kanazawa curry, soba, recently picked fruit, and vegetables, and of course the freshest seafood Kanazawa has to offer. Just a short stroll away from Kanazawa Station, if you want to experience an authentic market, this is one of the recommended places to see, taste, and smell some authentic Kanazawa.
Ōmichō Market frankly smells very fishy. Personally, with a fish allergy, I find the smell off-putting, and will quickly dart past the seafood stalls. But don’t let this discourage you, Ōmichō is heaven for all you seafood lovers out there.
The various seafood dons (seafood-topped rice bowls) are often recommended, just be prepared for a long wait during lunch hours. These stores deliver the best and are popular with locals and those from out of town. Luckily, during the hot and humid summer season, slabs of ice are left out in various locations for visitors to touch and cool down.
Not being able to enjoy seafood myself, I prefer to indulge in a meat-on-a-stick (yakitori) or nibble on a fruit kabob while walking around the market.
